The Postman has the low-down on Todd Carney.
Howdy DreamTeamers - so hands up how many of you are actually surprised that Todd Carney has taken to the NRL again like a duck to water?
Evidently he hasn’t been taking like a duck to something else that side-tracked him the last half dozen years but the good news from a Dream Team perspective is – he’s been a superb buy in 2012.
The x-factor at the Sharks since joining a decent roster full of workers – Carney was ticking along nicely with 53.91 DT ppg at one point and gave the smart DT coaches who invested in him at the start of the year a $115,700 cap boost.
But there was a downside to all the kick metres, tryscoring contributions, good enough defence and goalkicking points that you’ve got from Carney and that is – he made the NSW Origin team.
As a result he missed some serious time, with the Sharks having their byes at inconvenient times.
He then hit the wall, with -6 against the Raiders and was a late withdrawal against the Panthers. So much promise, but a disappointing end left a sour taste for many coaches who were relying on the playmaker.
Your thoughts on Todd Carney DreamTeamers? Was he one of the best buys of 2012?
