Edrick Lee is the first Toyota Cupian to get the ‘Little Book of Dream Teamers’ treatment and we might see him in first grade soon.
The Postman’s Mail: Although Canberra coach David Furner believes for the 50th time* that the reason his team lost on the weekend was because, and I quote: “We just needed to get in that arm wrestle” the serious lack of size on the edges of the Canberra defence is something that should be concerning him a little bit more.
Let’s be frank, Jarrod Croker can’t tackle and while Shaun Berrigan is a competitor he is more suited to the middle of the park than on an edge defending a centre with the all-world skills.
I mean how else can you explain the likes of The Best Express and Fan Favourite Ben Pomeroy running rough-shod over the two Canberra centres yesterday?
That brings us to Mr Edrick Lee.
The man mountain from north of the border tips the scales at 96kg and reaches 196cm… so he’s no little tacker for a 19 year old.
Plus he can run, jump and flat out attack. Defensively he’s not yet tested against genuine first graders but at least one Canberra centre has used a host of NRL games to prove he can’t tackle and yet he stays in first grade.
Edrick torched the Sharks for 16 runs and 175 metres, with 6 tackle breaks, 2 offloads, a try, 2 line breaks and 2 try assists. Roughly that’s 73 Dream Team points. He also ripped up the NYC Origin game two weeks ago, so the kid can play.
The amazing thing is his 73 DT points didn’t actually get him anywhere close to the top scorer for Canberra when they crushed the NYC Sharks 54-12 and the kid who did top score will be featured in a future ‘Little Book of Dream Teamers’ (do any savvy Dream Teamers know of who we speak?)
The player in question scored an incredible 144 DT points. Yes 144 DT points! Something not even demi-DT-gods Corey Parker or Paul Gallen have done. In fact this player even beat Terry Campese’s club record DT score of 142 back in 2008 when the Raiders smashed the Panthers. And no it isn’t Josh McCrone.
* That is actually the number of losses Furner has as Canberra coach. And he’s won just 4 of the last 17 games Canberra have played.
Simple question – Dream Teamers would you pick the untested Edrick Lee ahead of Jarrod Croker in your Dream Team? And do you think Furner should do the same for the Raiders?

Hopefully he is in first grade soon! Croker has been average. Either way he will be a good player in the future
