Injury Update: Dugan blows

The Postman June 25, 2012 No Comments

The Postman has the latest on Josh Dugan’s injury and why you have to wait before replacing him.

The Raiders have just announced that Dugan will miss at least a month if not twice that long, with an ankle syndesmosis sprain and team-mates Joel Thompson and Trevor Thurling are out indefinitely with a broken hand and a shoulder injury respectively.

The news on Dugan will hit his DT owners hard – given the scores Dugan was putting up at five-eighth were matching his scores from fullback despite losing those metres and tackle breaks from kick-returns.

With an injury like he has now, and the Raiders sucking about as much as Dugan going to town on the morphine tube on Saturday night,  there’s a chance the Canberra star might not be back until the very end of this season… if at all.

But the thing you have to keep in mind is if you punt Dugan now you need to use his cash (approx $250k) to upgrade.

So that means DreamTeamers - wait until Origin 3 is done and dusted before you trade Dugan out.

Otherwise you might have to settle for a good but not great player and you’ll need a great one for the run home. And at this stage of the season being able to trade Billy Slater into your team is a far better deal than settling for a straight swap for say an Anthony Minichiello.

Chairman Un has the rest of your Round 16 Injury News and the entire Wash Up from the week right here.

The Postman’s Mail: So if you have Thompson – who has been very good DT wise since getting regular time in the backrow – you need to sit down as well because the club is saying they are yet to decide if he needs surgery and when he does – we will all know how long that broken hand will keep him out for. So like with Dugan, sit tight DreamTeamers.

When there's DT news to be broken - The Postman always delivers... four or five hours late, depending on whether it is a weekend, public holiday or a little moist outside. But at some point the mail will be good and can you afford not to be across my DT scoops and analysis? DT prognostication and regurgitation is my business.
