DT Carnage – The worst week ever?

The Dummy's Half June 18, 2012 3 Comments

WOW!!!! What a weekend, The Dummy’s Half takes DreamTeamers through the Carnage that was Round 15….

I’m so angry right now, it’s actually hard to write this down..

Did anyone want to play this weekend? Players were dropping out all over the place, and when four of those guys are in your squad – it does not make for a happy week of DreamTeaming!

Especially when I brought in Issac Luke (38) for Jeff Robson (63) and DCE (?) for Sezer (60) – it really meant that there was very little to cheer about this weekend.

And on top of that, I’m going to lose my Eliminator… All this after having a projected total of 957 on that lovely Friday afternoon – oh to be back there would be fantastic!

Who destroyed your DT this weekend? It’s ok, vent your frustrations in the comments below.

So what is an avid DreamTeamer to do? There’s obviously still one game to play tonight, but it will be a matter of putting that one behind us and moving on to next round – but gee whiz, the injury toll is growing by the day!

So let’s look at the round 15 carnage, are things going to improve this week?  - We sure hope so!

Billy Slater (Knee) – It’s looking like 6 weeks for Billy, so if you didn’t take Chairman Un’s advice last week, it’s time to swallow your pride and punt him. You just can’t afford to have Billy sitting there at this time of year.

Robbie Farah (Personal) – There were plenty of us Farah owners licking our lips after seeing what the hooker did in Origin. However, it wasn’t to be, missing the game for personal reasons and everyone here at DreamTeamers.com.au sends their love and best wishes to Robbie and his family.

Corey Parker (Hole in the leg) – CP did his best David Nalbandian impression on himself, should miss a couple of weeks. If you’ve got him though, keep a hold of him!

Paul Gallen (Knee, Soreness) – Another big gun out because of Origin. You know PG-13 must of been hurting not to back up, he thrives on that stuff and will be filthy he missed the match. He won’t be out for long, but he does have the bye this week, so just get better for Origin Gal!

Liam Fulton (Ribs) – Fulton was a big loss for plenty of us, especially with so many other back rowers out, but is expected back in coming weeks after suffering cracked ribs in round 14.

Greg Bird (Sternum) – Played, but not a lot, word isn’t out yet on the severity of his injury, but my hunch is that he’ll be back this week.

Josh Mansour (Back) – Word was floating around all week that ‘The Source’ had back problems, and he didn’t disappoint. Back injuries are tricky, let’s just hope it’s only minor, because after Lachlan Coote’s performance on Sunday – I’d say Ivan Cleary will be very keen to get him in at fullback!

Matt Srama (Shoulder) – A popular choice for recent trades, Srama (21) hurt his shoulder against the Panthers. The hooker stayed off for a large portion of the second half, but should be ok for next week.

Greg Inglis (Elbow) – Toughed out the whole game, but another guy who had a disappointing week. Should be fine for this weekend, but you never know with GI.

Luke Lewis (Soreness) – Pulled up a bit lame after Origin, and has a leg strain as well, my money is that he’ll be back next week.

Isaac Luke had limited game time, Jonathan Wright was poor, Lachlan Coote was woeful, Feleti Mateo was meh, Sam McKendry was MIA, as was Curtis Sironen, Tony Williams, Sam Burgess and Jamal Idris due to injury, while DT workhorses Shaun Fensom and Chris Houston had the bye.

The list doesn’t end there either but you catch our drift, so don’t feel all aloneeee and coldddd, because hey we’re hurting too! Are you going to make adjustments this week? Or ride the Round 15 carnage out until everyone heals?

Until next time, stop punching computer screens!

What do you think about the introduction of a partial lockout every week? Gives more time for Sunday and Monday playing teams to announce late changes. I had Burns and Mansour both withdraw and my auto emergency was Tapau with a massive 4.

Not a bad idea at all. Lockout for Friday and Saturday night games as usual and a partial lockout for Sunday and Monday games (closing before kickoff on the Sunday). It would certainly help a lot of teams but then it would probably get a little boring after a while. Everyone ends up with the same team. Risk taking is more adventurous but you do raise a good point :)

You could be onto something BLACKDARK..

I think everyone feels that there should be some changes in that area, (although we wont see them until next year)..

At the moment savvy owners are getting punished for opportune trades on Friday because they can’t do anything about it on the Monday night for example.

As you said a small trade window at some stage of the weekend could be something worth looking into!

In saying that I guess it keeps making life interesting and gives me a reason to throw things at the TV…

What other changes would you, or anyone else, like to see in 2013?
