Round 13: DT Market Watch

The Postman May 30, 2012 6 Comments

The Postman has a few sneaky Buy, Hold and Sells as Round 13 approaches DreamTeamers… what should you do with Corey ‘Stormin’ Norman?

Here is The Postman’s Market Watch for Round 13 – suggest your best recommendations in the comments below. To read this article and not say anything would be quite frankly, rude.

BUY

Josh Mansour
Price: $147,600
Rd 13 Break Even: -22

I’ll let Señor Winning take it from here but basically it is not too late to get him.

Ben Hannant or James Tamou
Price: $253,000 and $285,700
Rd 13 Break Even: 32 and39

Yes both have two Origin games to go but the price is right to invest in either now. Obviously Hannant being 30k cheaper is a nice incentive to look in his direction but Tamou also is playing big minutes and loves a good tackle break. Also unlike Sam Thaiday and Petero Civoniceva, Hannant will backup for the Broncos. I’d buy both if I could afford it…

Got a better buy of the week than The Postman - deliver the scoop below.

HOLD

Greg Inglis
Price: $329,700
Rd 13 Break Even: -6

Yes he’s still got two Origin games to play but you watched the same games I did in recent weeks, at fullback GI is a DT beast.

Corey Norman
Price: $277,400
Rd 13 Break Even: 70

The down week was inevitable and his 70 break-even is not friendly but this week’s matchup with the Knights in Brisbane is. While I will recommend punting his halves partner in the next section – hold onto Stormin’ Norman because he’s capable of blowing that 70 point break-even out of the water this Sunday.

Disagree with The Postman on Norman? State your case below.

SELL

Jack Wighton
Price: $138,500
Rd 13 Break Even: -14

Nice prospect until he took up tramampolining… as Chairman Un explains. Look if he’d stuck in the centres he was a nice cash cow with the extra defence but he won’t play for months if at all again this season, so cash in – maybe a straight swap for Mansour?

Peter Wallace
Price: $229,300
Rd 13 Break Even: 91

He’s been a valuable member of the Dixie Ice Creams this season but his time is basically up. Two dud performances back to back sees his break-even jump to 91 and I may have already missed the boat on my long planned swap to Jamie Soward. Look he might score 50+ every other week but if you’ve got the cash turn him into a quality game breaker in your halves, he’s got one too many bad games in him to rely on.

Got player you think everyone simply has to sell this week? Well don’t dilly dally, tell The Postman!

The Postman’s Mail: Got a question from Daniel of Duntroon “Hey guys, I’m looking at trading Adam Reynolds for DCE, could you be awesome help and let me know their break-evens so I can try and save money by trading them this round or next? Cheers”

Well Daniel I can tell you that A. you should have spent the $20 to get the assistant coach because it makes life a whole lot easier, and B. DCE’s break-even is 56 and Adam Reynolds needs 40 this week to break-even. If you can afford it – the NRL Stats team love finding extra stats for DCE in the updates – always a nice boost for you cash.

I need advice! I have $49,400 and Joseph Paulo ($193,400) underperforming as a 2RF reserve. Doesn’t look like there’s anybody amazing I could buy with the combined cash. Any ideas?

Ben – we do a Thursday arvo/Friday morning article called DT Scoop which answers all your questions. Just ask a q on the FB page and we’ll jump on it.

First thought is – Paulo has done his job for you, made you some cash but it is time to jettison him.

As for who you can buy – give me the 6 best you want and I’ll happily narrow them down to 3.

Ben, Un’s first thought, if you haven’t already got him, would be to swap across for Paulo’s Parra teammate Matt Ryan ($189,500). He has been starting, playing 80 minutes and performing, and has a 0 break even this week. He’s still going to make you some money in the next month or so as well, so he is option 1.

With that kind of money you’ve also got enough for Sam Burgess, who is a spectacular choice for Origin. As mentioned below, Heighington is another option, but with Ellis due back in the next month, and Bell and Fulton playing so well, he isn’t likely to play 80 minutes. Greg Eastwood’s injury also opens up the option of David Stagg or Dene Halatau in your price range.

Obviously there are plenty of options there, and Un’s first 2 are the main ones if you haven’t got them. Happy DreamTeaming!

Perfect, thanks Postman. Will ask and list 6 options on the FB page!

Heighington might be worth a look for you..
