The Postman has some quality Buy, Hold and Sells as Round 12 approaches DreamTeamers – who made the cut (or gets cut) this week?
Fresh from doing Sean Hampstead a favour and circling a few positions in the ‘Positions Vacant’ section of the Sydney Morning Herald, The Postman has your Market Watch for Round 12 below.
BUY
Josh Mansour
Price: $105,800
Rd 12 Break Even: -17
The Metre Eater has taken his chance in first grade with both hands and for a winger is running up a storm to the tune of 150.7 metres per game (that’s 15 DT pts in your hand a week at least – not huge but good basic tucker for a winger). He’s given owners 33.3 DT ppg and is still only just over 100k – so if you need some cash from an underperforming CTR or WFB – downgrade to Mansour.
Matt Cooper
Price: $197,800
Rd 12 Break Even: 13
Look the Dragons are pretty average in attack – everyone is aware of that fact but when or if they do click – Cooper is the go-to man on the left. And besides in his past two games he’s scored 41 and 47 and like Manly centre Jamie Lyon, Cooper is one of those reliable DT scorers. If you want to move Tony Williams to the pack, then Cooper might be a good swap for a niff nuff backrower.
Got a better buy of the week than The Postman - deliver the scoop below.
The Postman is looking after DT Scoop this week – so if you’ve got a DT question you want answered – ask it here.
HOLD
Cooper Cronk
Price: $323,300
Rd 12 Break Even: 53
That ridiculously high missed tackle count in Origin should be ignored and you need to realise that of Melbourne’s Big 3 – Cronk is the player who is least likely to be rested after an Origin game. As a result – hope you have some cover in the halves and keep Cronk for the stretch run. That break-even is a little high but he’s going to come close to it most weeks.
Josh Reynolds
Price: $275,400
Rd 12 Break Even: 36
With Trent Hodkinson back the job security of Reynolds might be in a little doubt but he also can kick goals and with Bryson Goodwin and Steve Turner injured – Reynolds might become the man in that department and thus keep Kris Keating out of the starting team. I still can’t believe he’s going to be in your best 17 come the pointy end of the season but with a break-even of 36 and a potential kicking job coming – you need to hold Anthony Watmough’s younger brother.
Disagree with The Postman on Reynolds or Cronk? State your case below.
SELL
Kris Keating
Price: $275,300
Rd 12 Break Even: 68
Trent Hodkinson will be back in the Canterbury team full time at halfback pretty soon and even if Keating holds his spot in the squad, he won’t be playing minutes that warrant a salary north of 200k let alone his current $275,300. Sell Sell Sell… if only because he is Kris Keating and shouldn’t have been on your team in the first place.
Jamie Buhrer
Price: $230,100
Rd 12 Break Even: 50
In here simply so we can say the words – Buhrer… Buhrer… Buhrer in the office. Would have been better served not getting on the field in Origin 1 so he didn’t cop the battering that his lack of anything had on the game, and with Manly’s backrow at full strength he’ll be down to maybe 30 minutes a game tops at club level, so grab the cash you made and look elsewhere. Bye Bye Buhrer… anyone? Anyone?
Got player you think everyone simply has to sell this week? Well don’t dilly dally, tell The Postman!
The Postman’s Mail: Remember – not every Origin player will backup and Todd Carney and Paul Gallen have the bye – so make your trades (if you make any) with potential non-starters from Origin in mind. And if you are Sean Hampstead, refresh that resume.

Hey guys, I’m looking at trading Adam Reynolds for DCE, could you be awesome help and let me know their break-evens so I can try and save money by trading them this round or next? Cheers
